Asleep Series by Author Robert Paul
“I’ve read this amazing book! I can’t wait to read the next two. This is an awesome story of a boy growing up in horrendous circumstances and a man who managed to put aside everything that happened to him to reach his full potential. Truly an inspiring tale for today’s world.”
––Elizabeth Ayers, Author of Historical Westerns and Contemporary Romance
“ASLEEP ~ DRIFTING, Is an AMAZING true account of a son who is doing his best to survive his childhood. His so-called “Mother,” Lucinda, is cruel and brutal, to say the least. Such a GREAT read! Bravo to Robert Paul for giving us insight into his life.”
––Kathie Kitagawa, Office Manager | Chiropractic Assistant
I am in awe of what Robert has accomplished in his life. He is an inspiration and will be a light to others who have suffered similar horrific abuse in silence. Thank you, Robert, for having the courage to change your life and share your journey with others to help them on their journey toward healing....”
— C.H. Admirand, Author of Historical & Contemporary Romance Novels
Asleep (Drifting) Book One
On November 2nd, 2007, Robert Paul Gallegos stopped dying.
Asleep (Drifting) is the raw, unflinching memoir of a boy born into chaos — raised across thirty moves in New Mexico and California, surviving abuse, poverty, and the streets of San Pedro — who somehow found his way back to himself.
Before Robert became the man who ran two marathons, raised two remarkable children, and put down the bottle forever — he was a little boy named after a father he would never know, ducking fists in a house that smelled like fear. This is that story. All of it. Honest, funny in the darkest places, and ultimately — redemptive.
"We are who we are, until we are not."
Part Chicano memoir, part survival story, part love letter to the broken people who shaped him — Asleep (Drifting) is Book One of The Asleep Trilogy.

He survived his mother. He survived the streets. Now Robert Paul Gallegos had to survive himself.
Asleep (Hypnotic Rhythm) picks up where Book One left off — following Robert from the chaos of San Pedro into Phoenix, Washington, Long Beach, and Tijuana, as the hypnotic rhythm of addiction, recklessness, and self-destruction pulls him deeper.
Funny, harrowing, and brutally honest — this is the book about what happens when the damage you carry finally catches up with you. And what it takes to outrun it.
Book Two of The Asleep Trilogy.

About ROBERT
Robert Paul was born in the small town of Española, New Mexico. Growing up poor, he was abused by his mother. Being the oldest of four siblings (all born to different fathers), Robert was presented with many challenges early on in life. Subsequently, he was uprooted at six to San Pedro, California—to a different world with serious issues to face. As a young teen, Robert began to drink heavily and added drugs to his already-tumultuous life. From birth to early adulthood—Robert had an extremely challenging existence with his mother that called for an extraordinary effort to heal! Out of the ashes, Robert found a way to become a great father, a successful business owner eventually, completed two marathons, numerous half-marathons, and kicked the drug and alcohol habit on November 2, 2007—never to look back! His story to stop drinking, doing drugs, and to accept himself and others is awe-inspiring! Robert’s mission in life is to help abused children and bring awareness to those little suffering individuals' plight. Besides, Robert reaches out to those afflicted with drug and alcohol dependency with his life coach expertise and an inspirational public speaking ability to transform all he encounters!
